GW8IZR Homepage

The amateur radio station GW8IZR is located on the Island of Anglesey. We are located just off the North Wales coast surrounded by sea water, you need a bridge or a boat to get here. It seems that my definition of an Island is at odds with that of the IOTA committee.

My activities include VHF and UHF DX operation, particularly MS, weak signal tropo and EME.

Whilst I can be QRV on some HF bands its only when moving to VHF and UHF where I strive to produce a respectable signal loud enough to be heard. Of late I've become interested in Low band dx which seems to share some of the challenges of weak signal VHF working. Without doubt the greatest radio pleasures are struggling to hear a weak eme signal or chasing ES dx.

I am the operator of the GW8IZR CW skimmer station which posts CW spots to the VE7CC cluster and the RBN.

There are some details of the CW Skimmer system on this website and some pointers to getting the best from the service.

QSL Policy - All stations working GW8IZR get a card for the first contact on any band/mode. This card is sent automatically via the RSGB bureau These cards are processed in batches but they WILL be sent
Any card received directly with an envelope will get a card returned direct, this will be posted within a few days. I never try to make profit from my hobby so if you include a dollar bill etc, it will be returned to you in your envelope with my card and respect.

ALL QSL CARDS ARE CURRENTLY DELAYED DUE TO WORK COMMITMENTS
